... the baby is a ...... GIRL! I finally managed to get my real ultrasound today, and we found out that this little punkin is a female. Yay!!! I'm so excited. The ultrasound tech guy was super sarcastic and not altogether pleasant, but at one point he commented, "And I bet you already have a name picked out. And that you've had it picked out for forever."
"Yep!" I cheerfully replied. "If it'd been a boy, I would've had no idea."
"That's how it always goes," he said to Joe, shaking his head.
Ah well. I myself am a girl. What can I say. :)
Hooray for pink! For princesses! For ballet! (Here's hoping she loves such things ...) :)

Firsts
First: Earthquake since moving here. Magnitude 3-point-something. I didn't feel it. Joe did. He works on an upper floor. That's feeling not very comforting at the moment.
First: Full day of full potties in the toilet. Way to go, Isaac! It's taken us five days to get this far, but he, I HOPE, had a breakthrough today.
First: Full day without blowing my nose or Spencer's nose in over a month. Hooray! I calculated over 600 tissues used to get me through this cold/sinus infection. That is not good for the environment.
First: Time I've heard someone use "global warming" as an excuse for not wanting to return to the doctor's office with some missing paperwork. Ah, Berkeley. :)
First: Pelvic exam with my kids in the room. Yeah, these Kaiser doctors are pelvic-exam and ultrasound happy, and the presence of young ones in the room perturbs them not at all. I'm thinking, umm, can't we just assume my cervix isn't giving way yet? Or wait until another visit when I do manage to get babysitters? I was told I'd just be talking with the doc on this visit. I came prepared with lots of snacks and fun toys. Not with therapy for my poor kids. Grrr.
First: Girl. Maybe??? The suspense continues ...

Giveaway on Everead!
If you aren't a Shannon Hale fan, you definitely should be. My fabulous fellow blogger Alysa is giving away a copy of Princess Academy on Everead, a lovely place to begin your Shannon obsession, especially considering Shannon (yes, we're on first-name basis, haha) has announced a sequel. Yay! This is an especially sweet book for younger readers, like 10 to 14, but as an "older" reader, I have to say that I loved it. So go check it out! And enter! You'll be glad you did. :)
