So proud of myself

This past weekend, as the majority of my readers will know, was General Conference, a time when Mormons the world over gather around their TV or computer screens and listen to inspired messages from the leaders of our church. For those of us with young children, this four-session, eight-hour gathering can be ... impossible? crazy? a gigantic "no you cannot have the mouse!" battle?
Anyway, inspired by my sister-in-law, I decided this year to Be Prepared. And what a difference it made! We had the best General Conference since Spencer was a baby. Over the course of the four sessions, he built a temple out of marshmallows and toothpicks, traced the First Presidency's names, built a podium out of cardboard and toilet paper rolls, traced and colored his hand, solved a homemade magnetic temple puzzle on a cookie sheet, filled a 72-hour-kit bag, created a "prophet mobile," and listened carefully many times for the words that got him treats from the row of cups with corresponding pictures (prayer, faith, prophet, love, family, Jesus Christ, etc.). For most of these projects, all I had to do was get him going, and then I could listen with probably 80% of my brain. Impressive, I know!
And where was Isaac through all of this? Mostly napping or sitting on Joe's lap eating snacks or playing with pompom magnets and his own little cookie sheet. Totally manageable. So I just had to brag, and thank my sis-in-law again for all the help. It was a fabulous weekend!

Wow! That is so impressive! I've tried maybe two of those ideas... and they were great. But I've never done so many! We'll have to try that :)

Love it. I noticed that Jacob has the same color calendar as Spence—how funny. I am glad you had a great weekend.

You are such an amazing mother. I love watching how you parent your little boys! Such joy in life! I am, however, still waiting for pictures of your youngest cherub walking around!

Those are fantastic ideas! Too bad I have to wait another 6 months to try them out!

We will have to try the marshmallow temple. That looks cute.
